We at Yakima Covenant like to see ourselves as just a little counter-cultural. Young and old worship side by side - praise team and pipe organ, chancel choir and praise team, candles and technology, robes and jeans, biblical teaching, prayer, and historic liturgy led by the Spirit - all converging together, to create a rich and meaningful worship experience for whole family of faith. Though the specifics may vary from week to week, the Gospel comes through loud and clear every time we gather. We invite you to consider how you may participate...we think you'll be glad you did.

Special Worship Events
Our special worship events seek to bring together the unique and diverse people of God through music, liturgy, and celebration. Offerings have included:

Carols of Christmas
An annual Advent-Christmas concert featuring our Chancel Choir, Carillon Ringers, and various musical ensembles. We act as host to a featured community group each year as well.

Celtic Christmas Eve
A traditional lessons and carols candlelight service that definitely doesn't feel traditional! 11:00 pm Christmas Eve. Come for the worship and candles. Stay for the kilts and music!

Celtic Praise!

A raucous, yet prayerful, celebration of Christ for the whole family in the Celtic tradition featuring kilts, bagpipes, fiddle, accordion, choir, Irish whistle and all things Celtic!

Contemplative experiences of worship and prayer, often during Lent, in the traditions of Taize, Iona, Northumbria, or Lindisfarne. Featuring Chancel Choir, Westminster Ringers, and various vocalists/instrumentalists, it is designed for the deepest places in our spiritual journey.

Yakima Covenant Chancel Choir
Our adult chancel choir leads in worship weekly, performing an eclectic mix of classical-liturgical, pop, folk, world and contemporary music styles. We have an illustrious history having toured both Canada and the United States and have even sung in Carnegie Hall! We’re a group of all ages who love to sing and to laugh. If that sounds like you, please come and sing with us.
Director: Rob Rife
Rehearsals: Thursday evenings @ 7:00 p.m. in the Terrace Room.

Hallelujah! Choir/Emmanuel Choir
Twice each year we have opportunity for those who typically do not have the ability or time to sing weekly in Chancel Choir to sign-up for an Easter "Hallelujah! Choir" and/or an Advent "Emmanuel Choir." The former sings Handel's famous "Hallelujah Chorus" at Easter worship. The latter sings a piece at the end of our Carols of Christmas concert. Previous choral/vocal experience is helpful but not necessary. Watch for sign-ups in the Narthex.

Vocal Ensembles
On an as needed basis, various vocal ensembles are created to perform unique and challenging music for enhancing our worship experience. Previous choral/vocal experience is necessary and at least some music reading ability is helpful. Auditions for non-choir participants are arranged through the office.

Gospel Ensemble
Although not a particularly inventive name, we can sure sing Southern Gospel with gusto! If you love the sound of the Gaithers, join us as we lead the congregation from time to time in up-tempo, fun songs in this infectious style.
Director: David Ramsey-Warner
Rehearsals: usually Sundays, in between services

Praise Team
Our Sunday praise team is comprised of a varied and eclectic mix of musicians who guide the congregation in worship and celebration. If you are a competent and confident singer or instrumentalist on any instrument (I play bagpipes, so anything goes!) you’re invited to participate in this fun and meaningful musical experience. Auditions can be arranged through the main office.
Director: Rob Rife
Rehearsals: Thursday evenings @ 6:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings @ 8:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

Our Bell Choir plays in worship every four to six weeks and for many other special musical events. If you have music ability and love the sound of heavenly bells, join us as we make the music of heaven.
Director: David Ramsey-Warnerr

“Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers… Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” (Romans 12:13; Hebrews 13:2)An usher is he or she who assists all comers to the house of God to be seated among the saints where the Triune God is praised and adored. As an usher, one’s cue comes from the Holy Spirit who leads or ushers thirsty souls into the Presence of God where forgiveness, transformation and healing may occur.

“Greet one another with a kiss of love…Greet all the saints in Christ Jesus.” (1 Peter 5:14; Philippians 4:21a)The ministry of hospitality and greeting takes its lead from both Old and New Testaments and from Christian history. In the ancient world, a greeting was more than a simple handshake or high-five. It was a sign of intimacy, trust and friendship. In Hebrew culture, it was customary to offer hospitality to all comers, whether friend or stranger. Greet all comers as though they were Christ himself.

P.E.W. (People Enhancing Worship)
These are folks who love to enhance the beauty of worship in small, unseen ways: restocking pew racks with visitor cards and pencils among other menial but highly important tasks!

Poets, Prophets & Praise
This ministry is in its infancy. In it, we seek to express our faith journeys through creative writing.
